TMBC Respond to Government Intervention on Local Plan Rejection

Hadlow Village
Hadlow is a small village on the outskirts on the Town of Tonbridge, famous for its Gothic Tower located within a Historical Conservation Area. However, the new TMBC Local Plan housing allocation will expand the size of the village by over 50% within a very short period in an effort to increase the overall amount of new houses in the Borough by 20,000, as dictated by central government.
This is despite statements by South East Water that the Tonbridge & Malling Borough area as a whole can NOT sustain water supply for more than 6000 new properties.
Land designated as Green Belt will be lost in the drive to build houses in central Hadlow locations, which in terms of road infrastructure alone are wholly unsuitable for the increased traffic but which also have a detrimental impact on Services, Health and Education infrastucture currently enjoyed by the residents.
Our aim is to try and ensure that any new housing built in Hadlow comes with significant improvements in infrastucture, is of a benefit to existing residents housing needs and is not located in an area that will have a detrimental effect on those residents or anyone trying to traverse the A26.

Entrance to Court Lane shortly after a Construction vehicle took out a street light.
This street lamp was taken down following impact from a construction vehicle into the narrow entrance to Court Lane. It has still not been replaced.
